Cream Cheese

How to Make Homemade Cream Cheese:

You can make this homemade cream cheese with just one ingredient, Yogurt. To get the best result don’t use the processed yogurt like Nestle, use the local fresh yogurt or if you can make good thick yogurt at home do that. I use homemade yogurt, I use Prema Milk (1 litre) and I get almost 1kg out of it and from this 1 kg yogurt I easily can make 220g cream cheese.

 Instructions:

You need cheese cloth if you have. I don’t have it so I am using thin cloth and this works good. Place thick (make sure the yogurt is thick) yogurt in the cloth. Now place the cloth on the sieve (chanane). Place the sieve on a bowl and let water drain; make sure that there should be enough distance between sieve and bowl so that water will not touch the sieve. Place the bowl in the fridge for 24hours. Keep checking that all the water should drain. If it’s not than put some pressure on top the cloth. When it is quiet dry your cream cheese is ready.

My husband is a German so I asked him he said this cream cheese is very close to cream cheese you buy in Germany. If you want to make it more thick put the cheese (wrapped in cloth) into a close container for at least 1 week. Don’t throw the water you can use it in baking bread.

Enjoy
